Who I Am
I see pregnancy, birth, and the growth of a family as one of the most beautiful things about life. As a Monitrice Doula, I am privileged to help women and their partners make these experiences as positive and healthy as possible. And it’s never surprising to me when another scientific paper proves the positive impact a doula can have on the mother and family. I am honored to have apprenticed as a lay midwife and have served in many specialties as a birthing professional for over 22 years.
I am thrilled to offer experienced, educated, tender care to women and families across the Kansas City Metro area.

"January 4, 2019 at 1:50 p.m. marks the day I fell in love at first sight yet again with baby #3. I knew from the moment the pregnancy test strip turned pink that I wanted Nova by my side. I knew that even before I knew how I would break the surprise to my husband. I'm sure one of his first thoughts upon finding out we were adding to the family was making sure Nova was going to be there at baby's arrival as well.
Once that special day came and we were admitted in to Labor & Delivery, she walked in to the room giving me over to the peace and calm that came with no longer feeling alone or uncertain of what lies ahead. My husband and I breathed a sigh of relief as we can rest on her knowledge and support to help make it through, not only for me but for my husband as well.
All I had to do was focus on relaxing while my support team did everything else - making sure to provide me with an environment of physical and emotional rest and strength. Requests were promptly met without delay.
I felt loved and like the candy wrapper matters (me) too, not just the candy (baby). I waited 9+ months to meet this little girl. 9 lbs 10.5 oz later, my heart was over joyed as I got to hold her for the first time and look upon the chubbiest cheeks I've ever seen. She was born surrounded in love and serenity.

"I didn't find Nova until nearly the end of my first pregnancy (seriously I was half way through my eight month when I contacted her). Despite that she was more than happy to help and when I went into labor (somewhat) early, she got to the hospital as fast as she could and was there through my delivery. Now that I'm pregnant again she has been so helpful, including letting me know what essential oils I shouldn't handle for my spring semester of school. As I get further along as I am eager to learn what she can teach/show me to make the most of this pregnancy, which will hopefully be boring and normal this time around. Lol!"

Nova is absolutely amazing. In a very stressful situation, she managed to make it seem much more calm and facilitated a wonderful experience. Having a baby come five weeks early was not easy. It was scary. We weren't sure how well our baby was going to do once she was out of the womb. But, thankfully, I had Nova by my side to help me through it. I had an all natural birth! She helped to ease the labor pains and my nerves. Whatever I needed, Nova was right there by my side the entire time. From massaging me to reassuring me that things were going smoothly, and reminding me that soon enough, I would be holding my precious baby in my arms. After my baby arrived, Nova made sure that both baby and momma were comfortable and doing well. She stayed with us through our entire hospital stay and it was a blessing having her there. She is very knowledgeable and comforting. We had a beautiful, healthy baby girl, and a beautiful, peaceful experience.

When I had my first child, I was very nervous about everything that comes with being a first time mom. I knew I wanted to have a natural, labor, I didn’t want to use medicines or an epidural. I told Nova about my pregnancy, and she helped make all of that happen. She guided me through questions and worry throughout my pregnancy and was there even after I had the babies. All of her essential oils, acupressure, prayer, and doing what works best for me got me through the pain of the contractions without needing any medication. I honestly couldn’t have done it without her. I have had three children, and I have been blessed to have Nova by my side with all three. Especially when it comes to having a baby, everyone needs a Nova!
